Fall 2026 · Seven weeks
AI Safety Fellowship
The AI Safety Fellowship is a selective, seven-week program where a cohort of students explores technical alignment, catastrophic risk, AI governance, and strategy through weekly sessions.
Each weekly session lasts two hours and is led by one or two mentors, with a catered dinner provided. No prerequisites or technical background are required, and there is no required work outside meetings. See our tentative curriculum here; exact session dates will be shared when confirmed.

Community & Events
Attend talks, meet other UCSB students interested in technical AI safety and policy, and stay connected between events. Announcements go out through the Shoreline mailing list; day-to-day conversation lives in Discord.
Food varies by event and will be listed with the event details.

Organizers
Organizers work most closely with the people and projects behind the group: collaborating with AI safety professionals and guest speakers, shaping our programs, and gaining hands-on experience building the AI safety field at UCSB. The role requires sustained ownership, but it is the most direct way to develop leadership experience and contribute to the organization.
